LAT Update:
Ms. Cassidy attended the latest BCEA/LAT meeting:
The county is urging local districts to write an editorial letter to their district’s town paper explaining that the results of the PARCC are not indicative of a school’s performance. The makers of the test selected what tests to compare the data to and is not equivalent to other schools in the state. It is like taking a high school accounting class exam and comparing the results to a CPA exam.
Endorsed candidates for the upcoming election have been selected for Bergen County
Freeholders: Steve Tanelli, Tracy Silna Zur, and Thomas Sullivan
District 36: Gary Schaer & Marlene Caride
District: 37: Valerie Huttle
District 38: Tim Eustace & Joseph Lagana
District 39: No endorsement
District 40: Christine Ordway

Hi everyone! With summer coming to a close and election season gearing up (we have the NJ legislature, presidential, and eventually, the governorship elections ahead of us) the NJEA offers excellent and EASY ways to get politically active. Here are a few links below (they do require you sign in since they are member only pages). Links are in bold.
NJEA PAC: by contributing $1 dollar per pay check the money goes to endorse candidates who are pro public education
Pensions and Benefits: This page lays out everything from your SEHBP costs for active and retired members as well as a slew of information on Chapter 78
TAKE ACTION: probably the most important page from the Political Action section of their site. You can easily participate in letter writing to legislators and the governor as well as see what bills/laws are in the pipeline that effect YOU!!
